Our History

Lyceum Advancement College was founded in 1917 and has a proud history of providing higher education Distance Learning in South Africa. We were later, in 2003, renamed Lyceum College (Pty) Ltd. 

Over the years, our programmes have empowered more than 800 000 students – giving them the opportunity to successfully reach their career goals.

I chose Lyceum College because it meant that I could study long-distance. This programme
paved the way for a promotion to Regional Inspector, where I managed 80 staff members.
As a dedicated member of the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement Department,
I find joy in applying what I’ve learnt to daily situations. My proudest professional achievement
was the rise to a managerial position, a success I never imagined before. I highly recommend Lyceum

professionals. After graduating with a Diploma in Metropolitan and Traffic Policing and a Degree
in Disaster and Safety Management, I continued building my career with the SAPS. My course has
propelled my career, resulting in an early promotion. The most profound lesson I’ve learned in life
is to never lose hope.
